Muhammad Usama Usman is a Ph.D. candidate in Electrical Engineering at Florida State University (FSU), USA. He is working as a Research Assistant in the Center for Advanced Power Systems (CAPS), FSU. His doctoral research investigates the outage management system and development of advanced metering infrastructure for smart grids. He investigates the challenges of renewable energy integration in current energy portfolio and the proliferation of smart devices in the electric grid. He is a student member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (IEEE) and Power Engineering Society (PES).
He was the recipient of the prestigious Fulbright scholarship award for the M.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering from FSU in 2012-2014. He served as a Lecturer with the Department of Electrical Engineering at UAJK, Pakistan from 2014 to 2015. He also has three years of industrial experience with different power and telecom utilities. During his Ph.D. studies, Usama worked for US Department of Energy National Labs: National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), CO and Idaho National Lab (INL), ID, USA.
