Call for Papers
“The Dimensions of the Global Self-Sufficiency Crisis”
The world witnessed unprecedented big challenges in last two decades such as 2007-2008 global food crisis, 2008 global economic crisis, trade wars since 2018, COVID-19 pandemic, big refugee movements and climate crisis. Some of these challenges were not entirely unprecedented, however they occur much beyond expectations.
The common result of these challenges is the increasing tendency towards self-sufficiency and nowadays the self-sufficiency problem becomes more clear. Not only the prices increase, but also there are very big difficulties in supplying certain products and services. This case is much valid for energy and food industries.
Whether the world is on the verge of deglobalization due to self-sufficiency interests is an important research question. Also, it is clear that both sustaining global free trade and providing a universal self-sufficiency, especially in basic needs, are of great importance.
EPT opens call for papers for analyzing the various dimensions of contemporary Global Self-Sufficiency Crisis. Topics of interest for this special issue include, but are not limited to, the following:
- The problems in the energy supply chains of China
- AUKUS and the possible result for the Indo-Pacific
- NATO and China relations
- The increasing prices of energy prices
- Increasing food prices
- Climate change and self-sufficiency
- How energy transition politics negatively affected EU’s crisis management capabilities
- The impact of COVID-19 on the self-sufficiency of the countries
- Free trade & self-sufficiency nexus
- The future of globalization
- Weak points of UK’s and EU’s gas trading systems
- China’s aggressive spurts in LNG and coal markets
- When the energy crisis will be normalized?
- Russia’s political steps on Nord Stream2 in this period
- Uranium prices and future expectations
Note that Energy Policy Turkey (EPT) is a quarterly non-academic popular energy journal of the Turkey Energy Strategies & Politics Research Center (TESPAM). The submissions will not undergo a double–blind review process. Editorial team will make the final decision to accept or reject a submission for publication in the EPT. Main criterias for the decision making of editorial team are the compliance with the call for papers, the research quality and the adherence to ethical standards.
